It was with caution that I departed home early in the morning on May 06th, 2010 for the 2:30Hr drive to Miami International Airport to take the American Airlines non-stop flight to St. Maarten. The drive was smooth until Miami where the usual rush hour traffic was stop and go, however I took an alternate route which flowed except for some traffic lights and school areas. Miami airport is still undergoing refurbishment which seems to be a never ending process. Anyway American Airlines departed on time and touched down in St. Maarten on schedule at 2:15PM. By 2:36PM I meet my group outside of Customs. Quite a wonderful Immigration and Custom service in St. Maarten. We were on our way to Anguilla to inspect and experience some of its villas, resorts, restaurants, beaches and activities.

One of the ways to get to Anguilla is by ferry from St. Maarten and one such ferry service is GB Express which departs from the Police Station at the bridge a 5 minute drive from the airport. We took the 4:00PM ferry and were in Anguilla by 4:45PM. It is normally a 25 minute ride however we took a ride around Simpson Bay.

Immigration and Customs went smoothly and within 30 minutes we arrived at one of Anguilla’s Super Villas, Villa Modena. Modena Villa is a brand new five bedroom luxury villa of approx. 10,000 square feet with two buildings. The main house has the master bedroom on the top level with two bedrooms on the lower level. The Tennis Building has two bedrooms / Suites on the upper level with an entertainment center on the lower level. It is an impressive villa with excellent ocean views, infinity pool, and lots of features. We were all a bit tired so Chef Kumakie prepared Anguilla crayfish for dinner. It was an excellent dinner and introduction to one of Anguilla’s specialties.

It felt great to be on Anguilla once more.
